The first major consignment of 3,886 Micra cars left the Ennore Port for European markets on Tuesday, Nissan Motor India said.
The new global Sedan, 'which is the second product after the launch of Micra from Nissan stable', would be displayed at the eighth China (Guangzhou) International Automobile Exhibition, scheduled to be held in December, the company said.
The Oragadam facility is being set up by Nissan along with its joint venture partner Renault with an investment of Rs 4,500 crore spread over seven years.
The company's Indian subsidiary, Nissan Motor India, is rapidly strengthening its research and development wing for the purpose.
As per the agreement, Nissan Motor India 'can enjoy concessions in the wharfage up to 60,000 units per annum.'
Suzuki Motors Corp, the parent company of Maruti Udyog, announced on Friday a manufacturing collaboration with Nissan Motor Co and said they will begin joint production in India.

Japanese auto major Nissan on Wednesday said it is discontinuing Datsun brand in India, nine years after the company kicked off the marque's global relaunch in the country. Having failed in its ambitious global relaunch of Datsun, Nissan had in 2020 discontinued the brand in Russia and Indonesia, the other two countries along with South Africa and India which were marked as key markets targeting the entry level car segment. Confirming the move to discontinue the Datsun brand, Nissan India in a statement said, "Production of Datsun redi-GO has ceased at the Chennai plant (Renault Nissan Automotive India Private Ltd). "Sales of the model still continue (till the stock lasts)."

Global energy giant Shell has acquired Mumbai-based Raj Petro Specialities to deepen its foothold in the world's third biggest lubricants market in the world, a top company official said. Shell, which has already invested over $5 billion in India across the energy value chain -- from LNG import terminals and fuel stations to renewable energy and technology centres -- has acquired 100 per cent equity interest in Raj Petro Specialities Pvt Ltd from Germany's Brenntag Group.
